The Blurb -

After messing about with the car windscreen again on the way back, I got in at around twenty past six in the morning, after leaving work at around half past five.

I’ll clean my windows before I leave the office next time, and then I won’t have to chance being crashed into or crashing myself when things get tricky out there!

I had trouble sleeping, perhaps due to worrying about stuff, and didn’t drift off until after 8:30, after I had put Classic FM on the radio, which doesn’t always work, because occasionally they play something and I’ll think “ooh, what’s that?”, and then go down the rabbit hole, because my brain is telling me that I must find out.

If I was thinking better then my brain should be telling me that they will play it again eventually when I am in a better position to take notice, but your brain doesn’t always work at it’s best capacity.

A random song I felt like listening to during the
night shift - Où Est Le Soleil? by Paul McCartney.

I woke up at around one o’clock by accident, then drifted back off before waking at around twenty past two, ten minutes before  the alarm clock was due to sound.

Louise brought me up a bowl of cereal, cup of tea, and a glass of orange juice.

The new episode of Pods Like Us had come out and, without any promotion thus far, had already had eight listens - hey, that’s right people who searched it out without me doing anything to advertise it, and that’s still something. CLICK HERE FOR THE LATEST EPISODE

I don’t get enormous numbers, but I do think of something I was told by Robbie from Out Of The Blank where if one person listens then you’ve given them something.

It’s an expensive thing to do for one person though, lol.

I’m on a thing with the 80sography podcast at the moment aren’t I?  Listening to their look at the band Tears For Fears.

I’ve arranged my listening for the night’s shift, but wonder if I should hold back for a little while and come back to it. It’s the binge mentality essentially though! It does get in the way of other listening though.

Ive got a chat booked with Mike from My Classic Album coming up in the week ahead, which should be cool.

(Everything up to here was written on Sunday afternoon, prior to leaving for work)

Steady shift, but busy with extra work on. It helped it to move along though, because 13 hours is a long bloody time!

The ‘casts -

(Notes spoken to Siri, and edited later if I remember)!

Talk More Talk - (1:47) January 2022: introductions. Soylent Green. News - rooftop concert being showed on the anniversary in IMAX cinemas, get back documentary coming out on Blu-ray, John Lennon’s sometime in New York City coming soon in deluxe remaster and remix, new book by Ringo with pictures, tribute album to Yoko Ono coming in November on Yoko‘s 89th birthday, new book about George Harrison and his poetry coming out that is written made up of poems written by his wife Olivia, and so much more in 20 minutes worth of Beatles related news. The main subject of the episode is the recent 50th anniversary of the debut Wings album Wild Life, an album I personally think is overlooked, but also could have been better.

3 Minute Lesson - (0:03) episode 249: March 18 2021: the history of tooth decay

Daily Dad Jokes - (0:02) January 16 2022: more great jokes.

Bucket List Careers - (0:02) teaser trailer of a show with Christa Lauri, who was a news anchor, tv and radio presenter.

AnimeShin - (0:31) episode 1: September 18 2021: Blake and Merve are looking at the film Sword Of The Stranger. This is interesting in that they give the rating before talking about it, so that they are not swayed by each other. I had a good chat with Merve over Christmas to record a special segment for a Christmas episode of my show PLU. I like the mention of Lone Wolf & Cub, The Mandalorian, Firefly, and Willow as comparisons. In the trope of lone person happens upon a situation where they find themselves having no choice but to help out the villagers or townsfolk, you also have The Outlaw Josey Wales, Unforgiven, Yojimbo, and even The Wild Bunch. Message to Blake - Chuck Norris wasn’t in Enter The Dragon, but was in The Way Of The Dragon a year earlier.

Court Case with James Court - (0:40) January 15 2022: James & T have had a few weeks off for Christmas and New York, and now return to the trusty format of speaking about people’s personal problems, with the stories from the Instagram account weshouldntdothisagain. “We like juicy stuff here”, “we like the juices…” Molly Mae. People’s lives are different, and responsibilities mean that there is less give and take with these things. On a Friday I get home at around 9am from work, and then leave at 4pm for the next shift. “Elle Darby situation…” #FakeApology #TheHeatOfHate “…you silly goose…” Films - Spider-Man No Way Home, Don’t Look Down. Woman set up with a guy who was so nervous… Trying dating apps and trying out lines… great first date, walk afterwards after drinking too much, and wetting themselves… Is a woman wrong for telling his work friend that it’s wrong for them to wear their wedding ring when they are a widower? My answer - not only is that wrong, but it shows that the listener has no emotions or understanding of what a true loving relationship is. A woman who married herself is now divorcing herself after finding someone else…

The Gerry Anderson Podcast - (0:01) teaser trailer for episode 188

Interdisciplinary History Pod - (0:34) January 10 2022: this time they are looking at rules for time travel. Doctor Who. Endgame. Miss Peregrine. Back To The Future. Bill & Ted. Timeless. “Contingencies v agencies…” counter narratives, etc. Loki. JFK’s medical support corset. Futurama. Interesting fact about a band that was placed in 2011. Outlander. The strange things in the past. Early days of grave robbery. “…it tastes like teriyaki, okay…” A Stitch In Time. Minority Report. Predestination.

Belated Binge - (0:01) trailer for the show. Zach looks at shows and film franchises that he hasn’t caught before for the most part.

Winter of Discontent - (0:42) episode 25: January 2022: starts with an interview with drummer Billy Gusseck from The Comets. Message from me - Welcome back Nick, I hope you had a nice Christmas mate. We’re still looking at January 6th 1969 n this episode. Book recommendation is You Never Give Me Your Money by Peter Doggett. We join the band developing Don’t Let Me Down. This and the next episode essentially show how the song becomes what it is as they hone it into shape. Arthur Alexander. A great description from Nick about the development of drumming.

The Short Shorts - (0:08) August 2 2020: Point Blank - “SciFi: Humans think their existence is theirs to decide, but what if its not?” I love these list episodes!

Tales From Two Blue Collar Workers - (1:02) episode 52: January 10 2022: DW and Starvin’ Marvin. Post holidays and Marvin is poorly. What does Marvin drive? Guest Mark. Punching sheep horns like an alpha male… a piece of trash we’ll call Bob… Marvin and Mark have been out buying music. DW going to school telling NKOTB fans about Neil Diamond. Aaron Neville. Ee-aw. Vinyl, cassettes, 8 track, CD… photographing a whale underwater that then relieves itself. “Dick or cigar?” Colorado v Maryland… “why would you take something that kills trees and put it for you to kiss under?” “…buying missiles over the counter…” “is that what you call sap leads?” “Here’s my weekend pass…” “that’s a damn nice rain jacket!”

Buried On The Tundra - (0:09) January 16 2022: thank you for promoting Pods Like Us on the show, B. Show description from the notes - “Russian Mission, Alaska - July 2021 three men ambush boaters when they arrive home in the early morning hours.”

The Icarus Complex - (0:29) chapter 11: August 17 2021: post-date. New house with seven male housemates. Nick… Tasha Murray. Police.

3 Minute Lesson - (0:03) episode: 2021:

When They Was Fab - (1:00) January 17 2022: starts with footage of police Officer from the Beatles rooftop concert, before the intro music. Ed & Jon are joined by Kit O’Toole (from Talk More Talk) and Tom Hunyady (from Talk More Talk and 2 Legs) to look at the last two days of the Beatles documentary film Get Back. The question of the bare bones Blu-ray release and the hour long rooftop concert at IMAX cinemas. The “secret” camera. Hidden mic at the reception of Saville Row. “Ladies and gentlemen, George Martin produced Let It Be!” “Ed, shut up!” Mal goes for pantihose. Debbie is Kit’s hero. “Paul McCharmney…” Now we’re back to how it was at the beginning was Paul in charge of the band.
