Seaside Pod Review - episode 43: 31 August 2023: “The Cardinal is tired tonight!” New album by Waylon Jennings or a band Randy had in high school. More Lacrosse news? US Open Tennis. Kev being slack with the socials. Queen news - a new clip put out of Roger and Brian talking about fans. Randy picks up on Roger’s badly set up microphone. After the catch up they look at listener feedback about the previous song, A Kind Of Magic. Twitter poll. Kev is drinking a Gin and Tonic. OMG, a song by Steven Seagal. After this they go into the randomly chosen song of this week, Procession/Father To Son, written by Brian May, from the album Queen II. First up they discuss the instrumental lead-in Procession. Which is Brian playing numerous orchestrated electric guitars, and Roger on bass drum. For the main song it’s Freddie on lead vocal and piano, Brian on guitars, piano and backing vocals, Roger on drums and backing vocals, and John on bass and acoustic guitar. Similar to Baba O’Reilly by The Who? Beach Boys vibe in the vocal section. “I saw a part of your face that wasn’t sunburnt yet!” Lol. A song that’s in G, but rarely resolves to that major chord. This is a stone cold progressive style Queen champion of a song. Tape saturation. Guys, Queen II is the greatest album of all time, and there isn’t a single misstep on there in my opinion. “A hand made out of ham or an armpit that dispenses sunscreen?”
