Seaside Pod Review - episode 105: 26 December 2024: I have jumped forward from where I was listening because I wanted a Christmas related episode. A problem I will have is that at the beginning I might hear the feedback about a song I haven’t heard the episode about yet, before they got into the song for this episode. Pre-show intro music - is Randy a non-Christmas liker. Santa Claus discussion. Haircut price discussion. Oh good, no feedback from the previous song. After this discussion they go into a discussion about each other’s five favourite Christmas songs. Kev doesn’t get The Beach Boys. I get sick of Michael Buble’s Christmas songs. Especially when his diction is bad. Oh, that’s good that they’re not looking at feedback over the previous song, as this is months ahead of where I am in the listening. The song they’re talking about this time is the Brian May and Roger Taylor co-written song Thank God It’s Christmas. They say that Roger and Brian hadn’t written together other than this song, which they actually did on Machines (Back To Human). Interestingly, this song was one of two songs that were written by Brian as options for Christmas songs, with the other one being I Dream Of Christmas, which ended up being recorded by his future wife and Anita Dobson. “I’m In Love With My Car Christmas Edition.” After this they look at the song that wasn’t used, but as mentioned was recorded by Brian‘s wife Anita Dobson. Then they listen to the Queen promo.
