Enzology - season 1 episode 1: 4 October 2012: *Beginning of the Enz (1950s-1975) - We hear about the formation of the band as Split Ends and the songwriting partnership of Tim Finn and Phil Judd. / Songs in this programme include 'Split Ends', ‘Time For A Change', '129', 'No Bother To Me' and 'Lovey Dovey', plus rarities 'Near Hosts' and 'The Instrumental'. It also features rare pre-Enz recordings from as early as 1968 and Split Ends in concert, 1973-75.... [awesome. I was so excited to find out about this limited series podcast about the great New Zealand band Split Enz being available. The fact that they have interviews with everyone involved (that’s still around) is an added bonus. My own love of the band is based on their entire catalogue, and not just the last few albums that they made after Neil Finn had joined. There were some great fun songs before that time. This first episode is a great look at the formative years, looking at the people involved, and how they came together. Tim Finn, Phil Judd, Neil Crombie, Eddie Rayner, and everyone else up until 1975. After copying the file details over I suddenly realised that this isn’t a new series, but is from 2012. I feel like a real drongo now, because I was making out elsewhere that it was new. I will say instead that it’s “new to me!”]
