Serious Shiznit

Monday 2 March 2026 -

I got home later than I should have due to helping the new driver Phil out at work.

After about five hours of sleep I woke up at around two in the afternoon, to find two letters telling me that a court case I had said I wanted to attend to defend myself had already happened, and I had been banned from driving the previous Wednesday.

I called up work, who said someone would come and pick me up to bring me in to train one of the new drivers.

Their plan is to give me shifts training these two new drivers (Phil and Kay), with me permanently in the passenger seat.

This night was luckily the second night of training Kay on one of the runs, and since Kay had been a driver for another company before that has a similar way, it was lucky that she was able to just do the driving while we worked on helping the knowledge to settle in more, despite the fact that Phil on the other run was having trouble.

Because of Phil’s issues, myself and Kay made our way to help him with the lock ups, because he was having trouble remembering what to do at the nine different sites, after which we left him to his patrols, while we did the work that I was supposed to be training Kay to do.

We finished that work earlier because then we helped Phil with the five most tricky of his twelve site unlocks, before going home, and letting him know that I was leaving my phone on for the last hour and a half of his shift that we wouldn’t be around for.

Kay gave me a lift home, and the Operations Manager agreed that Phil needed at least three more nights of training for that run alone.

Tuesday 3 March 2026 -

Tuesday off was me getting in, having maybe an hour and a half of broken sleep, during which I had two nightmares. The first was me being arrested taking Louise to A&E while banned from driving. The second was me throwing myself off a high rise as a homeless person.

Tuesday night was awful - nodding off in the evening when we should have been having time together watching tv.

Wednesday 4 March 2026 -

I actually unintentionally woke up on Wednesday morning at 5am 🕔, had breakfast at 6:30, and was still depressed before finally pushing myself at around 1pm 🕐 to go to my solicitors to discuss the situation.

I left the meeting slightly more positive, in the hope that we can downgrade the penalty to allow me to keep driving, as I would be made unemployed and unemployable in the industry. Add to that the fact that I would have to wait for three months to get any benefits while trying to get employment in industries that I have never worked in, or at least not in nearly thirty years.

That day we also watched the latest episode of Gogglebox, the last few episodes of Amanda & Alan’s Greek Job, and the 1967 film Bonnie & Clyde, which starred Warren Beatty, Faye Dunaway, Gene Hackman, and Gene Wilder.

I had a terrible sleep on Wednesday night, after recording some bits with Ed for When They Was Fab. I woke up from nightmares a few times, and had stomach issues, going a few times.

Thursday 5 March 2026 -

I posted my driving licence after being told that I was supposed to send it to the DVLA, or I could be imprisoned for fraud.

While out I also got a couple of bits from the corner shop.

Back at work that night for a run of seven shifts, possibly my last (edit - actually there’s been one more shift added that I’ll mention in a future post).

I think that I left home at twenty to four to catch a 3:54pm bus to town, to be able to make a 4:12 train to Nottingham. The buses were all late due to an incident on the way to my stop, so I missed that train, but I managed to catch a late leaving bus to Newark from the bus station, which got me into work for ten to six, and hour and ten minutes early for work. If I had left on the next public transport for that journey, then I’d have been late.
