Saturday Podularity
Saturday January the 23rd 2021
Me and Louise watched the third episode of Wandavision today, and loved it. Great nod to classic seventies sitcom The Brady Bunch in style, and really clever in it’s pacing.
In the night I realised that Saturday and Sunday night shifts are the perfect time for listening to longer podcast shows, because they’re the nights when I do the longer runs in the work van, as opposed to the shorter trips on the Thursday, Friday & Monday shifts.
That’s how I will very likely arrange my listening of podcasts from now on, because before now I’ve had times where I’ve listened to longer shows, and I’ve used up most of a shift, and on occasion more than one shift (say hello over three hour long special episode of The Gerry Anderson Show) to listen to one episode!
Podcast listening -
Phase Zero - continued listening after I’d actually watched episode three of Wandavision...
Tabletop Genesis - short episode talking about the VHS concert release from ‘84 - The Mama Tour.
Keeping Up With The Cardassians - episode 2 from October 2020, where they talk about the Star Trek Deep Space Nine episodes A Man Alone and Past Prologue, which were apparently filmed in that order after the pilot episode, but screened the opposite way. They mention the 26 hour days on the planet Bajor and how that works with star dates, to which my answer is that star dates are based on a few different aspects, which include where they are in areas of the universe. I’ll tag official Star Trek fact checker Michael Okuda to see if that’s the right answer.
Paul Or Nothing - episode from June 2017 where Sam looks at the 1976 Wings album Wings At The Speed Of Sound. It’s the second album to feature lead guitarist Jimmy McCulloch and drummer Joe English, and the only album to have songs featuring all five members taking turns at lead vocals!
Fatman Beyond - my first time listening to the show hosted by actor/writer/directing great Kevin Smith and film/television writer Marc Bernardin where they just seemingly freeform chat all the way through a two hours plus show. Includes a chat with actor Skylar Astin, talking about the first two episodes of Wandavision... Wow. What a show! So much in there, but no chance to take too many notes. They really unpacked about the aforementioned Wandavision, but also looked into other things such as the future of Deadpool, the possible reintroduction of Daredevil on the next Spider-Man film, and so very much more!
Things We Said Today - news included Olivia Harrison getting over Covid in hospital, unreleased George Harrison demos that have now been taken down, and the future release of the film If these Walls Could Sing to be directed by Mary McCartney which is about Abbey Road Studios. The main subject of the show was about record producer/songwriter/musician/murderer Phil Spector.
I still had a fair bit of the latter to listen to when I finished the shift...
Take care and stay safe.
