Monday March 29th 2021 -

After getting to bed for about half past six, I woke up at a quarter to one.

I went to Morrison’s, but there were some items that they didn’t have because they seem to be a bit shit with what they’ve got in lately.

I got to work for my seven o’clock start, and it was a relatively easy night, albeit in the back up van again, which meant listening to podcast shows through an earpiece all night long again.

I got a fair bit listened to though. More would have been nice.

When I listened to the show Unknown Passage it resonated with me that the presenter mentioned that you shouldn’t have earphones in when you’re on your own at night, which is exactly what I’m doing when I’m doing my site checks so that I can get my listening done!

What I listened -

Mission Log (1:15) - (ep 97) Encounter At Farpoint sold immediately into syndication, as studios wouldn’t automatically order an entire season! Ken - “who’s the bald guy in Kirk’s chair, and tell security there’s a Klingonon the bridge!” John - “It’s better than a cruise in the Caribbean on a five star liner!” “Riker and Troi, ahem, know each other”. La Forge/Doctor conversation written by Gene Roddenberry. “We had forty channels back then...” in the UK, we had four channels! I love the quote that the original series was Gene Roddenberry in his forties and The Next Generation was in his sixties.

Glass Onion (1:16) - (ep 60) Antony starts the show with a nice look at how The Beatles were inspired by the 12 bar blues. After this he goes into his chat with Al Sussman. They just free talk, which covers so much - Antony’s trips to Germany and the USAl’s visit to LiverpoolAl’s history of Beatles fandom. After Antony said it I think he’s right that Oh Darling & Why Don’t We Do It In The Road would have been great as a dual vocal with John as well as Paul. Bit of ASML (is that what it’s called?) from Antony at the end!

Watchlist (0:43) - Ben introducing Tom differently again. The continuing story of Tom’s new dog. Tom mentions being not so taken as usual with the opening episode of Line Of Duty season six. He also says that Unforgotten is better than Line Of Duty. Detectorists is supposed to be good too. Ben is now hooked on The Sopranos! First up for talking about is The Flight Attendant starring Kaley Cuoco, who Ben doesn’t particularly like as an actress. Then they go onto Your Honor starting Brian Cranston. “It lingers on the gore of the initial incident!” This Is My House is the most popular new show on the BBC, which was created by Sutton-in-Ashfield’s own Richard Bacon. “The new Through The Keyhole”!

Full Cast & Crew (0:48) - Jason is looking at how the series The Rockford Files came about. I love how Jasonhas shown his history with this show and the times. Jim Rockford is a flawed but honest character. The series was created by Roy Huggins, creator of Maverick, for that show’s star, James GarnerMaverick from 1957, then The Rockford Files lasted from 1974-1980, followed by six films in the nineties. The pilot was co-written by Stephen J Cannell, who co-created the show with HugginsSopranos creator David Chase wrote 16 episodes! Relationship between Rockford and AngelBen Folds Five name check the show in a song.

From The Swamp To The Swamp (0:49) - Matthew Desantis speaks with Faculty Lounge guest Paul Johnson, a journalist and political reporter. Matt does his research. Matt knows his onions as we say over here!

Frame By Frame (0:56) - Ryan & Avery looking at the ballad (?!) Cadence & Cascade. I love the tangents into Robert Fripp’s relationship with ex-members of King Crimson. Apparently it’s the one song that every singer for King Crimson has tried singing it. The originally released album version was by the late Gordon Haskell. I really enjoy how Ryan & Avery go into detail on the different recordings of songs.

Unknown Passage (0:28) - episode 74 (mini bonus episode) about Sarah Everard from Clapham, who has gone missing on the way from Brixton. 33 years old originally from York, and worked in marketing. Last seen on Clapham Common. I can understand why this got attention, because I remember me and Louise being lost for words when we heard on the news about the police officer who has been charged for kidnapping and murdering women, with help from his wife. The assumption is that they did this to Sarah

Rewriting Dad (0:56) - the description of how her brother died is so horrific. The way that each person remembered events is so interesting. Leslie was in the US coast guard for four years, and then couldn’t reenlist because they found out that she only had Canadian nationality and not US. Leslie’s ex-husband - oh dear! She did so well to get herself back up on her feet, and to look after her kids while working six and sometimes seven days and nights per week. Leslie then became a writer. Beautiful bit at the end where Leslie talks about what the dedication would be in her first book.

The Night’s End (0:14) - Jimmy starts by mentioning previous episode writer Lionel for helping through patreon. The story this week is Lifetime Commitment by Carolyn O’Brien. Before starting the story, Jimmy’s checking out his horrorscope! Jimmy’s intro was a great nod to the story he would tell. Interesting story in that the main characters aren’t named. The narrative character doesn’t name her self, and the other main mentioned characters were mother, grandmother, and grandfather, with someone named Angela (I think) being the only named character. This makes the story possibly more open for people to attach themselves to.

Darwin’s Deviations (0:20) - There’s an apology for noise at the beginning because Darwin mentions about work going on at his house. Darwin then talks about farting, and there being an insect that survives through farting. There is a book called Does It Fart: The Definite Field Guide To Animal Flatulence. It’s a science called Flatology! Wow, they have discovered insects caught in amber with bubbles coming from their anus, which are basically farts! Darwin, you are a bloody clever clogs! I’ll leave my notes here, because you should listen to this show! Did I notice some political satirical in this episode? I love Darwin’s show!

The Aud Pod (0:14) - Mike speaks with Kevin Renner from the The Inside Insights podcast, where he brings entrepreneurs, athletes and others to talk about how they got to where they are, and what they do. Kevin started, much like myself, as a blogger, and then went to podcasting.

Movie Pitch Challenge (0:25) - Dave & Casey pitch a different film idea in each episode and discuss other film stuff that comes to mind. Dave’s pitch is about a lone engineer at a tech company. Title - The Rise & Fall Of ScattCasey’s pitch is titled Inside Job, based in the future where the gap between rich and poor is biggest. Poor people are paid to shrink themselves to do colonic and other things to rich people, with one of the “cleaners” being an assassin! “What if there was a tiny assassin inside the tiny assassin?” #donaldpleasance

Take care and stay safe.
