Saturday May the 22nd, 2021 - 

The blurb -

It took me an age to get to sleep after getting in from work, because I had things on my mind.

Woke up, had breakfast and a cuppa, and then went to the supermarket further away, because I needed some black cargo pants for work.

I was so rushed through the self service counter, that I forgot to get the security tag removed. 

I still wore them for work, luckily with my uniformed fleece covering the offending item.

Had an alarm on a site, but it was a relatively easy and quick job - spider on another sensor. Usual!

I messed up during the shift by forgetting to do screen grabs of my listening, so had to grab them later to get the pictures! That’s why the posts about my listening up on the Pods Like Us Instagram page went up the way that they did!

Once more the podcast listening didn’t go to plan, but they were a lot of fun.

Robby The Robot’s Waiting - (1:43) E17: a lost episode is found. Rich, Dave & Tanavi let us know what they’ve been watching. Episodic weekly released streaming. Tanavi mentions the Attowverse where you had to watch the different shows in sequence to know what’s going on. It was the same with Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel, where episodes from each interlinked. Joined by John Singh to discuss the 1979 Disney science fiction film The Black Hole. I like the film very much personally. Interesting description from John about what was going on with the Disney Corporation at the time since Walt had died in 1969. I absolutely agree with Rich about the similarities to the Bond films The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker! News. John asked a very interesting question that I have wondered myself, where he said “is there a danger of there being too much Star Wars?“ And what do my readers think? 

Frame By Frame: An Analysis of King Crimson - ep14 Dec 19 2020: Ryan & Avery discuss the song Happy Family, but apparently, according to the show notes, more about The Beatles. It’s a song about The Beatles breaking up. The characters in the song equate to Jonah - John, Judas - Paul, Silas - George, and Rufus - Ringo. Do you know what? It’s slightly irritating that people see Paul McCartney as being over the top with getting the songs that he wrote to a certain level, and going through so many takes. Some George songs have around 80 to 100 takes each, and some of John’s songs were similar. So, as much as Paul can be perceived as being kind of authoritative, and quite rightly in some ways, they all were a bit finicky about how they wanted a song to sound to the same sort of extreme of masses of takes! I’m glad that Ryan sort of pulls this opinion apart. Wow, call out or Paul’s song Temporary Secretary. The use of the word aphrodisiac as a cover for acid, and saying about Paul is funny because John& & George did more of it, and Paul was doing cocaine daily during the Pepper sessions to maintain his energy. Ryan mentions about Beatles’ live performances, and all of the screaming. During this he mentions about when they played Japan... I have often thought it would be fantastic to have the Budokan concert released as an album, if possible. 

Keeping Up With The Cardassians - (1:20) S2 E14: Starts with the guys talking about being off for the Christmas break. This episode is from January 11th. Nick has a Chewbacca ringtone. During the chat at the beginning they mention the fact that you have to keep up with what’s going on with the film Tenet, because everything is important. That’s one reason why I haven’t seen it, because I’m too busy these days to pay that much notice to something.  38 1/2 minutes in, and they are talking about Star Trek Deep Space 9! LOL... First episode this week is The Alternative. Second episode is Armageddon Game. Do you know what? I am really looking forward to hearing Joes response later on when certain things happen in the series, as he is coming to Deep Space 9 with no prior knowledge! Ferengi rule of acquisition 57. 

Something For Nothing - (0:45) E9: A very humorous opening to the episode from Steve! A post was put up on Twitter asking listeners to pick what album they would look at this time, and they’ve come up with the album test for echo. Listeners question one-favourite song from the album hold your Fire. Listen is question number two-song that you would love to have heard brush play live that you didn’t. Wow, Jerry last listen to this album when it came out in 1996... He has listen to it again for this episode and liked it. He didn’t back then. So, again this is the first part of a two part look at an album, and we start with side one of course. First song is Test For Echo. The cover photo of the album is a sign of proof of life from an indigenous race somewhere. Song two is Driven. This song features three bass tracks. Song three is Half The World. It features a 10-string mandola. Fourth song is Colour Of Right. Song five is Time And Motion. It was originally written for an undisclosed prior album “years before”, and is in two time signatures of 12/8 and 10/8. 

Comicbook Nation - May 19 2021: Kofi, Janell, and Matt. Warner Media news - 1. Batman: Caped Crusader animated series.  2.  My Adventures With Superman animated series. 3. Rick & Morty spin-off about The Vindicators. 4. News about the film The Batman (promo art). Well they are talking about the new forthcoming Batman film, I thought the same thing as Matt with the design of the Ridler. I’m not too enamoured with it either, and questioning. It will probably be great, but it just looks weird at the moment, and so incredibly different to any previous incarnation of that character. #LeatherDaddy Doctor Strange 2 rumours. Shout out to the awesome artist Boss Logic. Warner Media sale by AT&T. I too was shocked that Discovery has that much money to afford to buy this! Matt talks about comics. Snake Eyes trailer. Marvel’s Modok. Recommendations.

Digging Deep with Robert Plant - S4 E1: A favourite of mine suddenly returned late into the shift in my podcast feed, so I just had to listen to it. Robert returns with Matt Everett. First song is Bluebirds Over The Mountain, a cover version that Robert did in 2017 with Chrissie Hynde, for the album Carry Fire. The show starts with Robert & Matt catching up. Robert’s been painting, walking around Shropshire and North Wales, as well as going through things he’s stored, including songs and recordings. Wow, on one of his cassette tapes there was a demo recording he made with the Buggles, which turned out to be recorded and released by Grace Jones. After this they go into the history of Robert knowing the song Bluebirds Over The Mountains, and how he came to record it. 

Nothing More Annoying - ep12: joined by guest Greg from the Young Men Yell At Clouds podcast to discuss people who think that those who are fans of it don’t know that it’s just entertainment.
