Sunday May the 30th, 2021 -

The blurb -

Another not so good sleep.

Too much on my mind...

I got in at around 5:30 I believe, and was in bed before 6:30.  I fell asleep at around 10am I think, and woke at 3:30pm.

Between 4 and 4:30 I finished editing episode one of season three of Pods Like Us.  I just needed to use the Levelator software to level the individual sound files out, then place them back in, lower every individual sound file to avoid clipping and distortion, then save an mp3 to upload, and then while uploading add the show notes.

I left Levelator doing it’s thing while I got ready for work, and finished the rest when I popped back later for a break.

This will be different. I’m going to try and just listen to the shows and then paraphrase the synopsis in the descriptions. This is to see if all of the note taking is slowing me down at work, and to see if I can get more listening in, because I feel like I could listen to more and hopefully get more shows listened to.

The ‘casts -

Something For Nothing - (0:46) ep14Steve and Jerry return for the third and final part of their look at the album Vapor Trails, an album full of emotion and heartache based on drummer Neil Peart losing his wife and daughter in the time between albums. They talk about the album artwork, as well as the final five songs of the album; Earthshine, Sweet Miracle, Nocturne, Freeze, and Out Of The Cradle.  Latter based on a Walt Whitman poem.

Binge Bros - (0:46) May 28 2021: Natty & Joey are reviewing the series Hunters, news, and recommendations, as well as other things. Note for Natty and Joey, the Broccoli family have controlled the bond franchise basically from taking over eight prior to the film Doctor No. I said that I would get through the night without making too many notes, and get on with my work. However, that you and Joey ask how this could change the way of streaming. I think Amazon could be very clever, and get a corner of the market that isn’t covered at present. If you look at the historical archive, then they have a hell of a lot of classic films in their catalogue that could then cater to those looking for Gone With The Wind, Singin’ In The Rain, Wizard Of Oz, The Maltese Falcon, Casablanca, Citizen Kane... That’s the interesting side. News - top reviews for the forthcoming Fast and Furious film, Zack Sneijder to make a Star Wars film, JJ Abrams message about the failure of the last Star Wars trilogy, Aaron Taylor Johnson cast as Craven the hunter...

The Gerry Anderson Podcast - (1:28) episode 154 May 24 2021: Jamie, Richard & Chris. The fab fact relates to Shane Rimmer writing for Gerry Anderson productions, this time relating to the protectors. Listener’s feedback. News items included a clip from the forthcoming book Thunderbirds: Terror In The Skies. Second part of the interview with Toby Haydoke. Randomiser selection for Chris Dale  is the Stingray episode The Invaders. The Jerry Anderson podcast, the place to go to find out what condiment to use with your food. Eh?

Snapshots - (0:29) May 26 2021Blaine returns with more facts from history. 1. May 9 1887 - Buffalo Bill show in the U.K. 2. Garbage disposal invented in 1927. I have never seen a garbage disposal unit in the UK! An announcement about Blaine taking a summer break. 3. 1888 - the great sheep panic!

Keeping Up With The Cardassians - (1.17) S2 Ep15Nick, Rob & Joe are talking about the Deep Space Nine season two episodes Whispers & Paradise. These guys discuss so many things before they even get onto the subject of Star Trek, never mind Deep Space 9, that you could probably organise an entire semester of classes! Without giving too much away... Who am I kidding? I’m giving it all away! Here is a thought: what if they had reprogrammed the clone of O’Brien, and kept him on for the rest of the series so that O’Brien could use him as an assistant and they could using basically is a red shirt? I have to say that I agree with Rob and Joe that what’s going on in the episode called paradise is all about a cult. The punishment alone or horrifically bad, and Mick saying that he’s not sure if it is a cult or not, does that basically say that those punishments are okay? Dammit Nick, you get me thinking things when I’m listening to the show: when you say that Melissa McCarthy plays the same character in every film that she is in? I’ll see that and raise you a Jack Black! He plays the same character every time as well? I’m doing notes again aren’t I! Here’s a question; isn’t a cult basically the same as a religion, but on a smaller scale?

The Corona Diaries - (0:57) Ep56 May 24 2021: “snorting cocaine from tits!” Mr Hogarth went there within seconds of the show starting, LOL! Well done on the straight flush, H! Continued chat about the Afraid Of Sunlight album from the previous couple of weeks, and Ant has been watching the DVD film that came with the deluxe reissue. I’m with Ant that I’d love to hear the story of how they recorded and mixed Beyond You to get a Spector sound. First diary reading from 1995: it starts from the 16th of June specifically. That list of things that H has done was amazing to listen to!

We Were On A Break - (0:37) ep7 Aug 26 2020Chris and Geraldine. They’re talking about how their sex life has changed, and how different things turn Geraldine on now. Rocky Point... Looking forward to part two of “everybody hates Chris, and he can’t f***!”

When They Was Fab - (0:53) May 24 2022: Ed & Jon carry on their in-depth look at the Plastic Ono Band deluxe reissue. I love the Carl Perkins clip. Disc seven is a disk of them jamming in the home studio. They mention the fabulous radio series Bob Dylan’s Theme Time Radio Hour.

Dinner & a... - (0:11) ep18 A Terrible Beauty: Blaine. Dinner is porcupine meatballs. 1. Book - Ty Cobb: A Terrible Beauty by Charles Leerhsen. 2. TV show - Chernobyl.

The Night’s End - (0:28) Gargoyles Of The Abbey: Wow, so cool. Voice actors in a continuing story prior to the actual story; Alexis Whiteside as Belle Martaine, Eric Carrier from the Prairieland Paranormal podcast as Gargoyle 1, and James Barnett as Jimmy Horrors and Gargoyle 2. The actual story, written by Matthew Wilson is narrated by Xander Zweig from Xander & Stone.
