Tuesday and Wednesday
Tuesday-Wednesday July the 27th-28th, 2021 -
The Blurb -
Tuesday - Awake at 3:30 bed at 7am
Wed - Awake 10:30/12:30/2:30
We watched the film Black Widow. Disappointing considering the positive reviews.
Original founder member and drummer for Slipknot Joey Jordison passed away at the age of 47. In my opinion their material was better when Joey was a member. I don’t know if he had much of a hand in the writing, but there was still a certain quality and sound to the songs.
Wednesday - we listened to the podcast Two Chicks Talkin’ Flicks where Sara & April were talking about the film The Proposal. We also listened to an episode of the Blaine Desantis led Amalfi Media show Snapshots.
We watched an episode of the podcast Talking Sopranos, with this specific episode seeing Steve Schrippa and Michael Imperioli from the show being joined by John Ventimiglia, who played Artie in the show.
I’ve felt off for days.
Over the previous weekend a bit from one of my fillings had come out, so I’ve got to arrange an appointment at the dentist. I’ve been avoiding that because of the whole covid thing, and the numbers have gone up sufficiently in this area recently, with 130 cases over the period of a week, and one death.
Life goes on, but I need to stay healthy to earn sheckles! <- biblical reference there.
SECTION ABOUT DUSTY HILL OF ZZ TOP MOVED TO OWN POST - rest in peace Dusty.
After listening to the recent episode of Spocklight podcast episode where they spoke about the original series episode The City On The Edge Of Forever, I mentioned it to Louise, as she loves time travel stories.
During Wednesday, it became Louise’s first experience of a full original series episode, and she really enjoyed it, even with William Shatner’s occasional odd line delivery. His emotional portrayal was great.
On a whim, I set up and recorded a group chat, which Bobby from The Rock Guys and Matty from Astroleague appeared for. It’s going out unedited!
Very late night, going to bed at around 6am.
It took until after 9:30am to get to sleep.
The ‘Casts -
Two Chicks Talkin’ Flicks - episode 43 July 6 2021: Sara and April are talking about the film The Proposal starring Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds, a film that me and Louise have watched a couple of times. The legend that is Betty White is great in the film. Starts with general chat. Starting work at 7am, etc. April’s favourite Sandra Bullock film, where Sara’s favourite is While You Were Sleeping. They give a synopsis of the film, and then talk about it. They mention similarities to the film Leap Year. Kevin the dog. They’re right that earbuds always fall out of ears. The “naked” scene. When recording this show, how close are they to the microphones, because their volumes aren’t good. Betty White’s forest dance. Marks out of ten.
Snapshots - July 26 2021: Blaine introduces a new slot called “views on the news”. He’s looking at news from around the world that you might not be seeing in the news. Flood damage in Romania for illegal logging. North Korean leader says that youth have to be “more North Korean”. They can’t use the word “boyfriend”, but instead use “male partner”, alongside tens of thousands of other words that are not allowed. Certain clothing is also banned, hugging is illegal. Watching a show from South Korean brings a jail sentence of 15 years. Showing tv from South Korea brings a death sentence. Digital horse racing now a thing. Olympics viewing problems due to delaying the transmissions due to the time differences. Workforce changes in factories that make trainers and clothing in China.
Talking Sopranos - Michael and Steve are joined by John Ventimiglia. Michael and John first met in 1983 studying at Lee Strasbourg. John auditioned for the part of Tony Soprano first, then for Pauli Walnuts, before getting the role of Artie. John also went up for the role that Sylvester Stallone got in the film Copland, which I think is one of the best roles of Sly’s. I hate to say this, but I can’t see John in that role! He’s a great actor, but I just don’t see it. The episode they’re going into in detail is Bust-Out, which is episode ten from season two of The Sopranos.
