Monday August the 30th, 2021 -

The Blurb -

Initially I woke up at around 1pm after getting to sleep at around 9am.  After some catch up on stuff, a coffee, and breakfast, I went back to sleep at about 2 until 3:30pm I think.

Started work at 5, and worked until 6am.

Got a fair bit of listening in, around the phone calls and jobs.

I absolutely loved the new episode of Keeping Up With The Cardassians, where Nick, Rob & Joe spoke with actress Nana Visitor from Star Trek Deep Space Nine.

I hope that Nana appears again, because everything that she said was so positive.  What a lovely person.

The ‘casts -

(Notes taken by Siri - other AI’s are available).

When They Was Fab - (0:59) August 30th 2021: first Ed & Jon mention the passing of Don Everly. Announcement of what’s going to be on the Let It Be box set. Now onto the main show topic - disc two with the rest of the album proper, and the second lot of jams. Beware of Darkness. One of my favourite songs on the album. The era of religion in songs (Jesus Christ Superstar, O Happy Day, etc). Apple Scruffs with it just being George on acoustic guitar and harnessed harmonica a la Bob Dylan. The Ballad Of Sir Frankie Crisp (Let It Roll) was inspired by a previous owner of a house that he had recently moved into. The line “Matching handkerchief and tie” would be made into the title of a Monty Python album. “Take it Mal!” Awaiting On You All - a list song. All Things Must Pass - another of my favourite songs on the album. I Dig Love. Art Of Dying. Phil Collins’ congas. Jedi George. Isn’t It A Pity version 2. Like Jon & Ed, I prefer version 1. Hear Me Lord. Tried for the Get Back/Let It Be sessions. Concert For Bangladesh mentioned. I Remember Jeep that features John & Yoko on handclaps. It was a part of a John Lennon session, and also featured Eric Clapton & Ginger Baker. Thanks For The pepperoni. The Domino’s with George & Dave Mason.

Something For Nothing: The Rush Fancast- (0:51) episode 45 July 6th 2020: the fourth and final part of Steve & Gerry’s quadrilogy about Moving Pictures. Blimey! Email from a listener about the album in question. Lex’s bass intro was Vital Signs. Twitter poll. Dear me, pronounce YYZ the way that you want to! Proscriptorists and descriptorists. Song - Witch Hunt. The parts of Fear: The Enemy Within, The Weapon, Witch Hunt, and Freeze. A very theatrical song lyrically and musically. The Moral Majority. Max Mobley. Now onto Vital Signs. Nice bit of reggae in there again. Changing band personas. CHOM-FM. Rush setlist from May 18 1981 Madison Square City, NYC. End bass by Lex is Witch Hunt. therushcast@gmail.com

Keeping Up With The Cardassians - (1:02) episode 40: August 30th 2021: Nick, Rob & Joe speak with actress Nana Visitor, who portrayed Major Kira Nerys in Star Trek Deep Space Nine. I’ve been looking forward to this. Intro is the guys speaking about the chat with Nana before going over to that chat. “Chance the f***ing rapper, really?” Shout out to me at 3 minutes in. How the character changed the shape of female characters in the future. “Heels make me feel like an antelope…” I love what Nana said about Avery Brooks. The loss of Rene Auberjonois. “The surface of the water…” flow state versus guerilla acting. Jim Carrey playing Andy Kaufman and how it affected him emotionally being that character. https://www.cameo.com/nanav for a great project that Nana has that is to raise funds.

This Week In Marvel - (0:46) August 27th 2021: Ryan & Lorraine. First time that Lorraine has seen her family “since this panorama”. Spider-Man No Way Home trailer. “Hello Peter!” New Spider-Man book coming out by Abrams called The Moving Making Magic of Marvel Studios Spider-Man. Other great news. Marvel Future Revolution. Interview with actor Jeffrey Wright, who is the voice of The Watcher in Marvel’s What If. Interview with What If director Bryan Andrews. Question of the week-what are you most excited to see in the film Shang Chi and the legend of the 10 rings? What If tag line.

Lost, Found & Rewound - (0:32) episode 1.10.6>> August 30th 2021: Chris, Jim & Rick, or is it Gene Simmons? Apologies for mistakes in previous episodes. Harvey Keitel. Scott Glenn. Touring in vans. Rick and Jim toured Europe in a bus, where they were with 15 other people. Driving a German bus in England, so Rick was driving a vehicle with the steering wheel on the side that is used to, but on the side of the road that he wasn’t used to. Rick has watched In Order Of Disappearance starring Stellan Skarsgard. Dennis Farino. Eddie Money. Martin Sheen‘s brother does VoiceOver work, usually getting jobs that Martin himself turns down. Gacy documentary. What’s a good job for serial killers? The phone rings during the call. Marvel’s Black Widow. Loki. The Suicide Squad. Films that foreign filmmakers remake in English. In And Of Itself. Film from 1979 called Model Shop. Announcing the next film they will be talking about, which is Paper House.

The Insanely Dangerous Retro Pod - (1:38) August 20 2021: something new for me. Sponsored by the Scene Stealers Network.  Presenters - “Insane” Gaz and “Dangerous” Dave. This time they are looking at the first Sony PlayStation. The first console to sell over a million in less than a decade. Metal Gear Solid, Tony Hawk, Tomb Raider. Flipping heck, Dave mentioned that he went from a Commodore 64 computer to a PlayStation one. Now that is one hell of a step up! Final Fantasy games. Goldfinger game? Or did they say goldeneye? Some sort of James Bond game. The creators of Double Dragon to no longer exist. When you punch someone, apples come out of their face. SmackDown. GTA. FIFA 98. Memory cards. Saving games. Dual shock controllers. Parappa The Rapper? I’ve never heard of it! They are right in that kids nowadays have too much choice for things to do in a way. Mind you, saying that... Why are they always outside causing trouble? #GrumpyOldMan Quiz time called Challenge Dangerous. Snooper Nintendo. Fun nostalgia. Very professional but fun at the same time. Cool music and sounds.

No Fear Finance - (0:06) August 30, 2021: arranging money for retirement.

Robby The Robot’s Waiting - (1:32) season two episode five: August 26, 2021: Dave, Rich & Tanavi. Masters Of The Universe Revelation. Trollhunters film on Netflix - Trollhunters Rise Of The Titans. Wellington Paranormal. M Knight Shyamalan film Old. Memories Of The Alhambra. Korean series chat. Great look back at the film Minority Report with Kelly Viro, author, future gazer, and games industry expert. I agree with Kelly about the fact that the minority report does have a very Hitchcockian feel to it. Almost like Tom Cruise is the Cary Grant or James Stuart character. Episode of Panorama called Smart Cities or Are You Scared Human. Who could make the film these days? I love the suggestion of Wes Anderson, because that would be very surreal I’m guessing. Doctor Who news. Lucifer back sooner. Michael B Jordan working on a black Superman series. Wow, well done Dave - I don’t know how, but I completely forgot that Michael B Jordan was in Chronicle. American Gods cancelled after three seasons. Good Omens II. Sandman. Ghostbusters Afterlife. Battle of the Planets returning - hell yes!!! We need Ulysses 31 back as well. The Exorcist is coming back. Another great idea there from Kelly, where she mentioned about the idea of doing a new version of the Richard Burton film the Medusa touch. That was a great film.

(Total - 7hrs, 26mins)

Some random tunes at the end of the shift.
