The Blurb -

Not the greatest of sleep. A long call out cut into the latter half of the shift, which ate into the time I had gained from being a little bit quicker on my routine jobs.

Got the work done, and some great podcasts listened to.

Looking forward to my chat with the guys from The Inner Monolog tomorrow!

Work hours were 2700-0500.

The ‘casts -

2 Legs - (0:53) episode 141: September 25th 2021: Tom and Andy are chatting about the new deluxe book Press To Play At 35. Tom has been buying new records that were based on shouts that Andy chose from their previous YouTube video of non-Beatle related albums that they love. The book includes interviews with producer/engineer Hugh Padgham, remix engineer John “Tokes” Potoker, and co-writer Eric Stewart. Very open interviews they are too #ouch Song reviews from Paul Sinclair, along with bits from Hugh. I’ve got to agree with Andy - “when Spies Like Us is the last song by Paul to hit the top ten in the US, why isn’t it on a compilation?” I love what Andy says about revisionism in the music press. Andy - “this would go great with the archive…” I’m not sure that the McCartney estate would allow any negativity to this degree.”

Tabletop Genesis - (1:49) episode 38: May 8th 2020: that intro was bad, Mike Lord 😆 This is the last Genesis group album that they will be looking at! First there’s a look at the history of this album, their first post-Peter Gabriel album. Song one is Dance On A Volcano. Simon suggests looking at Rick Beato’s YouTube video about this song. There are three times signatures in the first 10 seconds of this song alone! #LetTheDanceBegin The three eras of Phil Collins’ drumming. Song two is Entangled. Steve wrote the verses and Tony wrote the choruses. Song three is Squonk. Phil doing his best John Bonham on drums. The description of Squonk on the sleeve notes. Song four is the Tony Banks written Mad Man Moon, written back in 1970! #AnotherTonyLesson It’s interesting when Mike mentions the castanets and other percussion on the album. Two albums later they would be using drum machines from thereon. Song five is Robbery, Assault & Battery. The chat about what the weakest song on the album is fire! 🔥 A co-write of Banks & Collins. “I just killed two people, whoops.” Song six is Ripples. Mike & Stacy’s duet album coming soon? Song seven is the title song, a trick of the tail. Another song that was written back in 1970 by Tony Banks. Simon says that there’s a very Jimmy Webb / Brill Building feel to the songwriting. Song eight is Los Endos. One song not on the album - It’s Yourself. After this they talk about the album cover art. They choose their favourite song from the album. #TomShowsYouHisPoll “eyes up here, Simon!”

Reel Film Reviewed - (0:08) bonus episode: August 16th 2021: as a bonus episode, Chris is talking about the animated series The Prince. Created by Gary Janetti. Alan Cummings, Frances De La Tour. Prince George. “Like a British version of Family Guy.”

Forgot to include the photo of the guy from the
Naked Scientists Podcast on BBC Breakfast
News the other day.

Something For Nothing: The Rush Fancast - (1:01) episode 66: November 30th 2020: Gerry & Steve recorded this episode on Friday the 13th of November. Bass intro by Lex. Twitter poll. Email from a listener named Jeff. This time they are looking at the first live album by Rush, entitled All The World’s A Stage. Their first top forty album! Song one is Bastille Day. Song two is Anthem. Track three is Fly By Night/In The Mood. Song four is Something For Nothing. Urge Overkill. Song five is Lakeside Park. Song six is 2112. Song seven is By Tor & The Snow Dog. Song eight is In The End. It is an interesting point that at this stage in the bands career they were just about to hit a point where they would have to remove certain songs that they loved all that had been stalwarts of the set to make room for the big hitters. #OhYeah Song nine is Working Man/Finding My Way. At nine minutes and 15 seconds in the song Geddy screams out “here’s the professor!” #DoesThatMakeGeddyMarianne? Roger Taylor of Queen was doing drum solos around that time of that’s sort of thing? The Kinks at The Stone Pony. Morphine live. Song ten is encore song What You’re Doing. The ending of the album 😂 Rolling Stone magazine’s Greatest Live Albums of the 70’s. Where the hell was Queen Live Killers? That setlist that Steve mentions!

No Fear Finance - (0:05) September 25th 2021: this time Sara looks into staying frugal when looking at attending concerts.

The Court Case - intro by David Tennant! This is an episode where all of the questions and stories are about sex. They are doing this because a new season of the Netflix show sex education has come out. They are starting the show by explaining what the series is all about, and what they like about the series. Note - I deleted some notes on this as I suggest it for people to listen to without knowing beforehand, as it’s great advice and programming! Out of interest, I understand the business of couples that aren’t married and the children being named after one or the other side‘s surname. My brother had two children with someone who he wasn’t married to, and the daughter had the mother’s surname, and the son had the father’s surname. “I’m glad I’m not you!” “That’s what she said!”

The Inner Monolog - (1:30) Marcus, Julio and Jose (no Ricky) are joined by JusB from the JusB Podcast. Great opening joke. Chicago Police Lieutenant shoved his flashlight up a car thief’s butt. A former Arkansas state trooper was arrested after being investigated by a woman who got her detectives shield to prove he had been stalking her. College class wrote a story that has to write a short story that included religion, pregnancy, family & mystery. One girl got an A+ just by writing “Good god I’m pregnant, who’s the father?!?!” A couple bought a house and arrived to find somebody else was there who have just moved in. Unspoken alliance. Joke about Tom’s mom. Coughing Karen. Great Bible quote from Leviticus. Another Little Johnny in school joke. Subway worker suspended after defending herself from a robbery. Guy gets chains surgically attached to his head and catches metallic poisoning. Go figure! FFS! Hahaha, that response was awesome Jose! Dennis Rodman. A girlfriend draws up a 17 page relationship contract with a boyfriend in two weeks after starting the dating for meeting each other on Tinder. Great advice, guys! The basketball toilet, LOL. God dam, that was a vicious comment from little Johnny about his mummy, LOL.
