Time off

 

Tuesday April 19th 2022 - 

After getting in for about 7:10am from work, I got off to sleep at 9am, and was woken up by a call on Louise’s phone charging in the bedroom , which was the landlord about the issue with the hob. That was at about a quarter past ten.

Louise received another call at about 20 past eleven, at which point I thought “sod it, that’s my sleep for the day then.”

Louise had made a delicious orange cake on Sunday, which I had my first slice of today. Yum! As a point of interest, I thought that Louise did an incredible job of the fondant rose that was on the top of the cake. Well done darling. X

Wednesday April 20, 2022 -

Wednesday was a relaxed day.  It couldn’t be anything else at the moment, as the money isnt there to do anything, or the fuel for that matter.

I keep seeing American friends posting up fuel prices over there and think to myself “that’s for a gallon, when we pay that for a litre”. There are 4.56 litres in a gallon, so we pay 456% more.

At around 11am I started my chat with Matty, Talor, and Manjot from the Aussie NFL Fantasy Show podcast, an Australian show about the NFL American Football and fantasy games based on that, much like Brits apparently have fantasy football games (that’s soccer to those Americans whose national game is called football, and yet they rarely use a foot on the ball! 🏈 

I did a small shop at Aldi (other supermarkets are available), with the intention to go again on Friday, which was payday.

In the evening we watched a few things, with the recent version of Death On The Nile being the main viewing. 

While watching this we ate some delicious tacos that Louise had put together.  

Thursday April 21, 2022 - 

Louise used the air fryer for the first time to make some lovely fries/chips, which were served with fish fingers, peas, and a yummy homemade parsley sauce. 

Viewing wise Louise watched Australian Masterchef on the BBC iPlayer. Then we watched Not Going Out on the iPlayer, and then episode four of Moon Knight on Disney Plus, followed by a great episode of the new National Geographic series Wild Central America (I think that’s what it’s called).

Friday April 22nd, 2022 -

Friday saw both of us going into town, and then a decent shop at Aldi.

I watched a concert film of George Harrison live from 1974, after which we watched Jaws 3 starring Dennis Quaid, mostly for Louise’s interest, as she hadn’t seen it.

I had seen it back in the eighties, and remembered very little about it. It’s an odd film, especially with the stand out bits that were filmed for the 3D showings.

Louise said it was 90 minutes she will never get back.  It will be Jaws The Revenge on the next lot of time off, which will be a first time for both of us.  

Louise made an absolutely delicious green salad dinner with salmon (that some idiot didn’t photograph), while we watched Gogglebox and some other bits. 

Saturday April 23rd,  2022 - 

Back to work for Saturday night, so I spent the day doing more research on the George Harrison 1974 tour, ready for a When They Was Fab guest spot before leaving for work. Such a fun recording.
