The ‘casts -

(Notes spoken to Siri, and edited later if I remember)

The Rockonteurs - (1:01) season 4 episode 1: November 20 2022: Gary and Guy speak with the legend that is Dave Davies of the kinks. What can you say about this band? If you’re too young to know, then check them out. One of the great bands! Brian Epstein turned them down. when you listen to this episode, just remember that Dave has been incredibly poorly for a few years, and I believe has got over Cancer. There was a film script at one point in 1968 being written to go with the author album. wow, the true story behind the song Susanna is still alive. Bisexuality. The story of creating that sound! The fight with drummer Mick. Death of a clown. Waterloo Sunset. See my friend. Where have all the good times gone.

Christmas past - (0:51) November 14 2022: this time for a very special episode Brian is joined by Todd from the podcast Christmas Clatter to quiz two listeners (Ashley and Laura) on questions about Christmas where they are given three options for an answer, and have to pick which one of those three is incorrect. An interesting twist on the usual way that quizzes work.

We also meet Gary the Door Repair Man, the most important character in the show. NO door is safe this week” LOL, Fortnite fortnightly.

Atlas Obscura - (0:11) March 18 2021: what a fascinating episode. A listener had called in to say that they were listening to an old archive radio show from back in World War II which was recorded at a place called Camp Anza, and he realised that it was recorded in the derelict theatre that he used to play in as a child. His house was previously part of a camp where soldiers went between training and being sent out, and also his own uncle was actually in that house when he had been operated on after losing a leg in the war.

The Book Realm - (0:15) November 18 2022: continuing to look at  DL Bester’s adventures in reading. Oh, this time she wants to talk about how she hasn’t been reading this past week. She tried to read This Is How You Lose The Time War by Amal L Mothtyr and Max Gladstone. Too Pretty To Burn. when she mentions about the fact that she’s been trying to speed up her typing speed, it reminds me of having to learn in the 1980s, the late 1980s, how to type on actual typewriters. That was a lot different, and that was touch typing, which meant that you weren’t allowed to look at the typewriter while you were typing.

Daily Dad Jokes - (0:05) November 20 2022

Out of the blank - (0:59) October 12 2022: Robbie chats with World War 2 historian and author  David A Harrisville. propaganda. Indoctrination. Christianity. The soviet issue. Herrold. Mail censorship. Spoils of war. Robby asked a fantastic question, which was after all of the research that David has done, has it changed his perspective on the war, and the German soldiers? The importance of letters. “Blind act of patriotism.” Biggest myth. I feel as though my notes do not do this episode enough justice, because the whole episode was absolutely fascinating. I think this episode could easily have been twice the length at least, because it was chock full of fascinating information.
