The Pod Files - Monday March 20 2023

Monday night was better than Sunday, that’s for sure. Albeit a busy night, with a couple of handfuls of extra jobs on, and other issues, but it was better.

I always wish I had more time for listening, and have toyed with the idea of listening to shows at faster speeds to help with listening to more pods.

Recent events have really not helped my mood a lot lately, and that’s reflected in the work.

When I noticed in the night that a new episode of InSpectre had come out, I had to listen to it straight away.  I love that show - great writing, production, voicing, and it always makes me laugh - I think I have a leaning towards story based pods with humour in them, such as The Chronicles of Wild Hollow, Omega Star Seven, Desert Skies, and even The Icarus Complex has some great humour in there.

Speaking of The Icarus Complex, the new episode of that didn’t arrive until after I had got home, or that would have taken priority of course.

Face The Music: An Electric Light Orchestra Song By Song Podcast - (0:16) Episode -088: February 11 2023: the Eric’s look at the song Make Them Understand by Mike Sheridan’s Lot. Actually all of it is Roy Wood, except from Mike Sheridan singing the lead vocal.  Written by Roy. Mention of Mrs Miller’s version of Strangers In The Night - dear lord, that’s dreadful. “Live from the Diamond Room.” I agree that Mike’s voice isn’t quite right for the song. Recorded at Abbey Road Studios. Archive of Mike Sheridan talking about the song Make Them Understand. Thought from Troy.

Grammar Girl - (0:09) episode 177: 3 April 2009: why are British English and American English different?

Still reeling from the enhanced scrutiny of Isaac Mendelsohnn, Calvin decides to use a loophole in the PI ban to take a job in Scotland. Terrible imitations of Irish and Scottish accents ensue!” I’ve been really looking forward to this episode. I love this series.

What We Just Watched  - (0:10) March 20 2023: Rachel and Dave respond to seeing the film 65, starring Adam Driver. I love how Dave points out that Adam drivers character is supposed to be English, but measures distance in kilometres when travelling, which we do not do in England.

That is so true! Veronique and poke nose. Barbie girl. living in a dark timeline. A grumble goat sweepstakes. Corn people, take them up on the offer.  here is a question-I understand the idea of just putting the items that you buy straight into the car to save the use of bags, but if you are going for a lot of items, then how do you carry those items from the car into the house? how would aliens coming to the Earth view the bank situation? Trash city.

She’s also released Blonde On The Tracks, that include her takes on Bob Dylan songs. Interspersed with this are her own favourite Elvis Costello songs.
