The Pod Files - Saturday March 18 2023


Saturday night shift. I was still emotional from the events during my time off. 

I don’t really remember much about the night, but my colleague Matt kept checking on me on the phone to make sure I was doing okay. 

Other than that I don’t really remember much happening, although I was as busy as BEEP, which is usual for a Saturday.

Spyhards - (0:56) SpyMaster Interview 47: March 17 2023:  Wow, the music is different. I must admit that this episode, that came out yesterday, is probably about a year and a half newer than the most recent episode that I’ve listened to. This episode Scott and cam are speaking with the actor Julian Glover, who was in the films for your eyes only and the full protocol, both of which are spy related films. I also know him from Indiana Jones and the last Crusade, and the Star Wars films. I believe he is also the husband of Isla Blair?  I talk about Julians recently published Lou book. He apparently gave what he calls a dreadful audition for the role of bond at the same time as Roger Moore was up for the role. From getting changed in an Athens airport lavatory to flying around the world in a pond Phil. I love how Julian has different descriptions for roles that he has, in how we explains what he is doing to people that you knows.  Sean Connery‘s improvised line in Indiana Jones and the last Crusade-hilarious! After the interview it is pointed that it was recorded hours before the passing of Topol, who Julian mentioned positively in the interview.

49 to 50

Hey y’all... I’m trying to sound all “street” there, but it’s not working is it?!?!?!  So, the transition from 49 to 50 then, what’s it like? Thinking back to what I remember of going from 39 to 40, I was thinking then about the old adage of “life begins at 40”! What a crock of shit that was, and so is going from 49 to 50...  Someone asked me about it, saying “what’s it like to turn 50?” My answer was something along the lines of “like it’s a day after being 49!” I’ve still got thin hair on my head, with lots of grey therein. I still make the money at the same job, which I’ll probably still unfortunately be doing in a year when I’ll turn 51!  The changes that have happened recently have very little to do with that transition.  Or do they? I’ve mentioned before to people, particularly fellow podcasters, but I think also in my previous blog series (Ramblings of a Forty Something), that I had been thinking about doing some new things, because the then still a few months...
