Time Off

What happened?

During the time off on Tuesday and Wednesday March the 26th and 27th, there was a fair amount of podcast work done, with Tuesday evening seeing the recording two episodes of Toppermost of the Poppermost with my co-hosts Ed and Kit, looking at the singles charts for the U.K. in April of 1964, and the first of two parts about the same month in the US.

The US is always a longer discussion, because in the US it’s about the “HOT 100”, whereas in the U.K. it’s about the top 50. Well, I say that, but I seem to remember that the charts on the Top of the Pops tv show and the radio were the top 30, until it became about the top forty in the mid to late eighties. I might be wrong, so please let me know if I am.

On Wednesday I recorded three episodes of Pods Like Us, which will have to be rescheduled for release dates, as they were all film related shows, albeit looking at different sides of films, but still film nonetheless.

Those PLU episodes were Piecing It Together, Visually Stimulating Film Podcast, and The Best In Song Podcast.

After having never seen a full episode of QI, we watched four or five of them, and I don’t remember what else we watched. What a great show. I don’t know why I’ve never watched a full episode until now, after it’s been running for 21 years.

As an aside I caught a video where in a chat show with that presenter Sandi Toksvig was on, she mentioned that she was on equal to 40% of the money that previous presenter Stephen Fry was getting. - https://youtu.be/DWOVx6accDo?si=Xs1ZY3kFK_oFMhXS

We played more Beat The Intro on the Alexa device, and listened to a mix of Greatest Hits Radio, Heart 80’s, and Classic FM.
