Time off - August 20 to 21 2024

What we did -

we finished watching the film Yesterday, which we had started on my time off last week.

While at work on Monday night, I found out that my mum had an accident at the care home, where late at night she fell off a chair that she had been standing on to get something from the top of her wardrobe. She was taken into hospital, who discharged her around three hours later.

On Tuesday I was told that she was resting at the care home, so it was probably better to not visit.

Recorded Toppermost of the Poppermmost podcast session towards September 1964 episodes. Not all of it is show stuff, but that lasted from a few minutes past eight in the evening UK time to just before midnight.

I finished a  rough mix for the August 1964 side C episode for Toppermost of the Poppermmost.

On Wednesday I checked in on my mum, but she fell asleep after a few minutes, so I left her to sleep and went back home.

we watched the superb documentary film Milli Vanilli, which was obviously all about the “musical group” from the early nineties. A fascinating look into how it all came about, then the two faces were thrown under the bus by the guy who actually created the fakery, who himself got away with the multiple millions. A very tragic end though with one of the two pretenders passing away, most likely as a result of everything thrown their way afterwards. Having been an orphan with no real family didn’t help matters with him.

We watched the Thriller 40 documentary about Michael Jackson’s album Thriller. A good documentary, but I prefer Off The Wall, its predecessor.

We watched an episode of Frog & Toad.

Louise made some absolutely delicious food while I was off! #omnomnom

We watched the film Weird: The Al Yankovic Story. What other way could a film about Weird Al be made than for it to be a parody in itself. That’s an inspired idea, which purposefully takes jabs at the recent slew of those sorts of films, that we have had quite a few of. A superb film, with the Madonna joke getting a bit much after so long perhaps, but then it does bring about that surprise ending in a film co-written by the very much alive and still actively entertaining Weird Al himself.

On my way to work on Thursday I checked in on my mum, who was better than the previous couple of days. That’s good to know, but I’ve gone back to work more tired than when I finished my shifts.
