Time off 22 to 23 October

The journey to work on the Monday was a pain… 

First up, buses from where I live to the bus station were having problems, so I saw on the app that the bus was going to get me there at ten past 5 when the train from Mansfield to Nottingham was leaving at 12 minutes past five - two minutes to get five minutes away.

That train was missed, obviously, so I caught the next train, which got me into Nottingham too late for the Nottingham to Newark train, hence catching the later train, getting me into work late. 

So I worked the shift, and came back home on public transport, while reading the book The Apple Tree by Daphne Du Maurier. It’s a short story book, so it wasn’t like I read War And Peace by Leo Tolstoy!

We finished watching Lucifer season 5 episode 16, which we followed by watching season 6 episodes 1-6. 

We had a short amount of time in the town centre on Wednesday. 

We watched the latest (at that time) episode of All Creatures Great And Small. 

The journey to work on Thursday was a pain yet again - buses were problematic, so I walked to the train station, making it with six minutes to spare before the Mansfield to Nottingham train was due, which I caught, although that was having trouble. 

While on this first of my two trains to work, I received an update from the East Midlands Railway app about a problem with the Nottingham to Newark train. Apparently it had been cancelled, so I was looking at the following train, which would get me to work late. 

I let Andy at work know, and then when I got into Nottingham train station I found that the app wasn’t telling the whole story. 

As I found out, the fact was that the planned train was actually there, but there had been a mix up due to two trains allegedly being at the same platform. 

I got on the correct train then, which did however leave late due to the driver running late, coming in to the station on a train themselves, which was running late. Is that ironic or just bad luck? 

The train arrived at Newark ten minutes after it was supposed to have done so, and I was at the office ten minutes before start time.
