Extended time off part four
Monday 30 June 2025 -
I woke up at 6:30am, and couldn’t get back to sleep.
I eventually decided to get up at about a quarter past seven, have some breakfast, and a cup of tea, while doing some research on someone I hope to be a potential guest on a future episode of When They Was Fab.
That took about an hour. Just some initial research, because I’ve not even approached the person yet.
Editing of the May 65 bits completed from my end. Now I send that work to Ed, who does another edit on everything.
The Good Life season 2 episodes 1 and 2 on the BBC iPlayer.
I fell asleep, possibly because of the heat. I’m dreadful in warm weather because I quite often faint from a lack of fresh air. I’m also incredibly light skinned, so I burn easily as well.
We watched Rain Man on ITV-X.
Tuesday 1 July 2025 -
Woke up after about five hours of sleep I think.
Most of the day was spent researching for the recording of Toppermost of the Poppermost due to happen that night.
I also finished the editing of sort of two forthcoming Toppermost pieces; the interview that Ed and Kit did with Billy J Kramer wasn’t done at the same time as the May 1965 UK charts discussion, so they were separate editing jobs.
I watched the great David Bowie starring film Labyrinth, directed by Jim Henson.
I’ll leave that there, because I’m guessing that people don’t want to read about it.
Recorded the rest of our discussion about the US charts for July 1965, with a feature for June recorded as well, which sees us discussing stand out albums from the first half of 1965.
An interesting aside is that a large number of the songs frequently chosen by the Rolling Stone magazine as the greatest songs of all time are actually from 1965. That session went from 10:30pm my time until around 2am, seeing me getting to bed for twenty past two.
Wednesday 2 July 2025 -
I was woken up at twenty past five, as it was raining heavily outside. Luckily I got back to sleep eventually, and woke up fully at 8 in the morning. Less than five hours of sleep again.
It’s been a dreadful time off for recharging my batteries, because I haven’t actually done that.
I did a fair bit of preparation for Toppermost, writing the notes out for the U.K. charts for both August and September of 1965.
Research for Pods Like Us episode recording later.
We watched Ironheart episode one.
Recorded a great chat with Mark Francis, one of the two geniuses behind Caloroga Shark Media, who have created so many incredible shows.
We watched the great eighties film Mannequin, starring Andrew McCarthy, Kim Carroll, James Spader, and GW Bailey. Wet eighties soundtrack on this, even with the synth heavy background stuff.
The Good Life series 2 episode 3.
I was falling asleep while watching the latter, so settled at about ten o’clock. I woke up at about midnight, two o’clock, and four o’clock in the morning.
Thursday 3 July 2025 -
I woke up at around six in the morning.
Unfortunately I’m back at work tonight, and I’m not looking forward to it.
I’ve still passed barely anything toilet wise, which is a worry. Hopefully the mix of the strong laxatives making will mix with the walking I do at work.
