Tuesday 9 September 2025 - 

On the way home after the Monday night shift, I stopped off at Tesco to get some bits. While there I had a notification for an email I had received from Podnews. 

Podcasting pioneer Todd Cochrane had passed away, which I was shocked to hear. 

As I’ve mentioned in some places since, I had arranged from recent correspondence between myself and Todd to record an episode of my own show, Pods Like Us, with him as my guest. 

I was really looking forward to doing a deep dive with Todd, because I see his story as someone who rose from essentially being an Everyman to starting up the incredibly big podcasting company Blubrry, through being a completely independent podcaster before the word “podcast” even existed. He also maintained that sense of independent podcasters owning their own IP, without corporate interference. 

Recorded an episode of When They Was Fab.

We watched the latest episode of Gogglebox on All 4. 

We watched the latest episode of The Great British Bake-Off Extra Slice, also on All 4. 

Wednesday 10 September - 

I recorded an episode of Pods Like Us with the author Sean Malin, who has written and compiled the amazing book ‘The Podcast Pantheon: 101 Podcasts That Changed How We Listen: From WTF to Serial’ 

We watched episode one of the new NCIS spin-off series Tony and Ziva on Paramount Plus, the latest episode of The Great British Bake-Off on All4, episode one of the seventies kids tv show Bagpuss, a charming stop motion show that both me and Louise watched as kids. 

Edgar - a single word that I put in my notes, and I haven’t a clue what it means… Note to self to catch up with my notes sooner! 

I watched Star Trek Prodigy season 2 episodes 17 (Brink) and 18 (Touch of Grey). 


Tuesday 16 September - 

We watched the latest episode of The Great British Bake-Off Extra Slice on all4. 

Recorded some news and a punch-in for When They Was Fab

I watched some more Star Trek Prodigy, but can’t remember which episodes they were. 

Wednesday 17 September -

Moving stuff around the house and cleaning up. I started on getting the office (second bedroom as was) kitted out for making drinks, so that I could easily get a tea or coffee while recording podcasts in there. 

We watched New Amsterdam season 5 episodes 10,11, and 12, and the latest episode of The Great British Bake Off on All4. 

Monday 22 September - 

I booked an extra day off, as Louise has an early hospital appointment early on the Tuesday morning. 

We watched the latest episode of Gogglebox on All4. 

Recorded an episode of When They Was Fab with Ed. 

Recorded a fun short chat with Cam from the Jacked Up Review Show Podcast for an International Podcast Day episode. 

We watched part one of the two part documentary film AKA Charlie Sheen.

Tuesday 23 September - 

We went to Louise’s hospital appointment, which incurred a £5.50 charge for parking of course - bloody cheek! 

After finishing the appointment at King’s Mill Hospital, we went to the Sutton-in-Ashfield town centre, where Louise did some shopping. I think I bought two books from charity/thrift shops, and a set of three keys for bleeding the radiators. 

After taking Louise back home, I popped out to the laundrette, and fuelled up the car. 

Recorded a quick chat for Pods Like Us with DJ Skoob from Undiscovered Entrepreneur, who also happens to be the show editor for Pods Like Us. 

We watched New Amsterdam season 5 episode 13, the last episode ever. That was a great series. 

Recorded some bits for Toppermost of the Poppermost with Ed and Kit - feature and UK charts for October 1965, and a couple of other things. 

Wednesday 24 September - 

We watched part one of the great documentary film AKA Charlie Sheen, an episode of Grace And Frankie, an episode of To The Manor Born, the latest episode of The Great British Bake Off, the film Single White Female, and the last two Star Trek Prodigy episodes Ouroboros Parts 1 and 2. 

I fixed the shower at last, and did more to the office. I just need to get some more storage cupboards to tidy all of the boxes that are full of stuff. That would make it tidier in there, because it’s not a very big room per se.

  Sunday August 10th 2025 -  I got in from the Saturday night shift at twenty past five, and drifted to sleep a little after six in the morning.  A minute or so after ten in the morning, I woke up for the toilet and looked at my phone. I noticed that I had missed phone calls and messages from my aunties Carol and Ann, as well as a fairly recent message from my younger brother James. They were all asking me to contact them.  I had a feeling that I knew what it was, but I didn’t want to believe it.
