Time Off

Tuesday Sep 30th 2025 -

I listened to 54 songs for the Toppermost of the Poppermost October 1965 charts discussion.

We watched the latest episode of The Great British Bake Off Extra Slice.

Recorded Toppermost of the Poppermost discussion about the US charts for October 1965, which went from 10.40pm until 3am.

Wednesday Oct 1st 2025

It was my girl’s birthday.

We watched the film Presumed Innocent.

Editing of Toppermost.

I recorded an episode of Pods Like Us with William Corbin of Inception Point AI

We watched the latest episode of The Great British Bake Off .

I watched The Acolyte season 1 episode 8 (The Acolyte).

Wednesday 8th October 2025 -

My days off changed, so I missed three recordings that were booked for the Tuesday, and cancelled a doctor’s appointment.

I recorded a great group chat with William Corben from Inception Point AI, Benjamin Field from Deep Fusion Fillms, and Mark Francis & John McDermott from Caloroga Shark Media. We spoke about the use of AI in media, with the main emphasis on podcasting.

We spoke for a long time, and most of the questions sent in weren’t asked outright, but were actually touched on naturally.

We also had problems with the AI on Zencaster stopping the recording here and there, so it took three recordings to get the thing done.

It was a great chat, which I think was informative, while not skirting the issues that people have pointed out.

A package arrived that included a Popmaster board game that was paid for with some of last year’s birthday and Christmas money. I barely get out to buy stuff.

We watched season six episode one of All Creatures Great And Small, the latest episode of Gogglebox, the latest episode of The Great British Bake Off, an episode of Kitchen Nightmares USA, and an episode of 24 Hours To Hell And Back.

Thursday 9th October 2025 -

We listened to a fair bit of radio.

The 2CD special edition of the 1985 INXS album Listen Like Thieves arrived today. I’m contemplating getting the large deluxe edition when my birthday comes, but there is a Record Day special coming out on Record Store Day two days after my birthday, that’s only available on that day! I’ve actually got that day booked as part of five days I have booked off, so that’s a stroke of luck.

Editing something for Pods Like Us, and some Toppermost of the Poppermost.

We watched the latest episode of All Creatures Great And Small (season 6 episode 2), Miranda season one episodes one (The Date) and two (The Teacher), Doctor Odyssey season 1 episode 16 “Double Booked”, and Is It Cake Halloween episodes 1, 2, 3, and 4.

Tuesday 14 October 2025 -

We watched the latest episode of Gogglebox, and the latest episode of The Great British Bake Off: Extra Slice,

We also watched The Music of Lennon and McCartney on YouTube, a television special from Granada Television, which was filmed in early November 1965, and transmitted in the middle of December 1965. This is the feature for the November 1965 episode of Toppermost of the Poppermost.

I listened to the songs for the Toppermost of the Poppermost look at the U.K. charts of November 1965.

We watched the latest episode of The Great British Bake Off.

Recorded the UK side of mine, Ed and Kit’s look at the singles charts for November 1965 for Toppermost of the Poppermost.

Wednesday 15 October 2025 -

We did some radio listening, I did some blog writing, and I also had trouble staying awake.

We spent far too long watching some stuff on YouTube.

We watched the superb film documentary John Candy: I Like Me on Amazon Prime, produced by Ryan Reynolds, and directed by Colin Hanks.

Name this actress, and/or her
famous mother and father.

We watched the Nancy Meyers film Something’s Gotta Give on Netflix in tribute to Diane Keaton, who passed away over the previous week. It’s a favourite of ours. Rest in peace, Diane, and thank you.

We watched the latest episode of All Creatures Great And Small (season 6 episode 3). As soon as an actress appeared on the screen, we knew immediately who her famous parents were! I won’t say, because I want to find out who can see it without cheating hopefully.

Thursday 16 October 2025 -

Back on work on Thursday as usual (last week was different). Still, up in the morning though because Louise wanted to go into town. I say that, but I got a bit of a nap while my girl was getting herself ready. However, that meant having to wait for me to get ready for about ten minutes.

Mad dash around to get what we could done, because I only had the money for an hour and a half of parking. The phone app for that car park wasn’t accepting my car, so money it was.

Everywhere relies on phone apps and the like! While out we actually went to Superdrug to book our flu vaccinations. There was one person at the prescriptions counter, but behind the bit that it set at the back and above everything else. It’s weird how these places do that!

The lady behind the counter said “there are cards on the counter with a QR code that you scan, so that you can book online. “I can’t do that because I don’t have a smart phone,” said Louise. I think that the lady at the back was a little moody when she said “oh, I guess I’ll have to do it for you then?”

We have booked them. That’s next Wednesday in town again then. We’re not quite old enough to get free jabs anymore, although we were when the world was in lockdown!

I was in such a rush to get ready to leave for work, but I made it to work at bang on seven in the evening!
