Birds whose syrinx is controlled by only one set of muscles have a limited vocal range. This Song Sparrow, using several pairs, can put forth a cascade of trills and notes.

BirdNote Daily - 9 July 2023: *Just Whose Ducklings Are Those? - It's spring, and a female duck swims across a pond with ducklings in tow. Some of the youngsters might not be her own. Wood Ducks and others may lay some of their eggs in other ducks' nests — or in the nests of other kinds of ducks, like Common Mergansers and goldeneyes. Biologists call this nest parasitism or egg dumping. Perhaps it's a kind of insurance against the loss of a nesting female's own eggs or brood. Hooded Mergansers, like this one, are frequent recipients of eggs from other species. It's a good bet that mother duck has at least one - and maybe more - foster ducklings.

Phase Hero - 11 December 2025: Brandon, Jenna, Aaron, and Jamie. Housekeeping to start with. Supergirl trailer announced for the day after recording. Over the previous weekend Brandon and Jenna had Ben to a Supergirl based event, and have seen the trailer already. Who is doing the music for Supergirl? The sale of Warner Brothers war between Netflix and Paramount. Brainiac casting rumours. Season two of The Penguin in the works. The Batman Part 2 starts filming in May 2026. DC based theme park rides. Where is the Avengers Doomsday teaser trailer? Marketing campaign for forthcoming Spielberg film started with it still being untitled. Avengers Endgame being rereleased in September 2026. My take on that - I bet they add a post-credit scene. Brandon suggested something similar. What brand suggested though he is interesting where we get a visual for the sound that we heard at the end of the original screening of game, but this time it could be Dr Dom doing that noise with his costume as opposed to iron man. Has Hugh Jackman finished playing Wolverine? Director Ryan Kugler has said that Black Panther three will come out in 2028. This will make it the first Post secret wars film from Marvel. Apparently there are disappointing numbers for the film fantastic four first steps on its Disney+ debut. I enjoyed that film a lot, but I still haven’t seen Brave New World or Thunderbolts. Promo for Wonderman. My question-who is Ben Mankiewicz? Casting for fourth coming hunger games film. Jamie rant about Golden Globes. This might take me some enemies, but I agree with Jamie, in that the best podcast award for the Golden Globes is a joke because all the people I’ve paid £75,000 $75,000 each to put themselves forward, and all of them are related, and big corporate companies. As much as I would like to probably get some of these people on my show, I very much doubt than I would, so I don’t think I’m a friend in any potential guests upon Michael, because quite frankly they will see me as something to step up.
