Friday April 23rd 2021 -

The blurb -

So I got in from work at about twenty past eight, in bed for nine, and then woke up a little before 3:30pm.

The previous two part blog took me an age to finish and post up.  I don’t know why.  Sidetracked by this and that I think.

In a way I wish that I hadn’t split into two posts, because the first part has only two reads in comparison to the 14 of part two.

I started work at 6pm, and it was a slow start for podcast listening.  I started listening to the first show, This Week In Marvel, at around twenty past six, and it must have been around two hours later before I finished it, I think?

*Goes to check the photographic evidence*

Wow, not bad remembering that. It was two and a quarter hours!

Most of the night I was slightly worried, because the usual van has a fault in it’s onboard diagnostics for AdBlue, whereby it thinks there is less in that there is, and you get a warning telling you only have so many miles before the vehicle will cut out completely.

At the beginning it was telling me 100 miles before it cuts out.  However that changed to 50 miles so far through the night.

At 4am I went back to the office and switched vehicles, into one without phone connectivity, so I changed the radio station to Classic FM for the last two hours of the shift.

Not a bad finish to the shift, because I love classical music!

I got home for 6:30am.

The ‘casts -

This Week In Marvel - Ryan & Lorraine. intro, then chat about episode four of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Yes, I’m still behind on TWIM. Hasbro figurines. Ryan chats with actor K Trevor Wilson from Letterkenny. Talk about Women Of Marvel no. 1. Messages from listeners.

Things We Said Today - Ken, Darren & Alan. Ringo update about a second ‘EP coming this year, and all concerts this year have been postponed to next year. New issues of Ringo book coming. Ringo’s Zoom In ‘EP doing well. Plastic Ono Band release and new video for song Look At Me. New album of McCartney III cover versions news. Ram 50th anniversary half speed remaster vinyl. Ram On tribute album featuring both Denny Seiwell & Dave Spinozza from original album players. Linda McCartney cookbook in June. New Paul McCartney book Granddude’s Green Submarine. Paris Jackson modelling for Stella McCartney. Fab Four Festival details. This episode they’re talking about Ringo’s Zoom ‘EP, and Bob Dylan’s new release 1970 that features George Harrison on one of the discs.

Adam & Craig’s Guilty Pleasure Cinema - Adam & Craig are this time joined by Cam & Scott from Spyhards. This time they are looking at the film Star Trek Generations, as they’re both fans of Star Trek. “The old six by eight!” Craig calls Malcolm McDowell “the British Nicolas Cage”! Great point from Cam that the films are all about Picard & Data, as opposed to the whole ensemble that the series looked at. Yes, the “action” between Stewart, Shatner & McDowell isn’t the greatest. “Three old dudes duking it out on rocks!” Oh my!

Beatles Books - Joe is joined by the fabulous author Chip Madinger to chat about one of the books he’s co-written, the incredibly detailed Lennonology. First person that Chip spoke to was guitarist Hugh McCracken.

Yes Music Podcast - episode 478. Kevin Mulrine & Mark Anthony Kay discussing why Yes stopped playing sides 2 and 3 of Tales Of Topographic Oceans. First up is Kevin giving us Yes news. Roger Dean exhibition. It’s interesting how Kevin mentions that in a sense they may have initially played the entire album to break things up because their previous setlist was the same one that they had basically played for a very long time, and in fact particularly do nowadays! My own opinion is sort of in agreement with Kevin & Mark, where playing an entire eighty minute long album that are four songs that has only just come out is too much to expect! Hahaha, I love the post show outtake.

Spyhards - Cam & Scott looking into the fabulous Whoopi Goldberg film Jumpin’ Jack Flash. Was going to be a Shelley Long film to be directed by Howard Shieff (Private Benjamin/My Girl). Shelley Long film about a sperm bank “came and went” and “antics went out of hand!” Nancy Meyers was one of the script rewriters. Original story/screenplay by David Franzoni, writer of Gladiator and Amistad. Penny Marshall’s first film directing job joining a week into the production. Wow, this was the only spy based film in 1986! My opinion of this film isn’t the same as Scott & Cam’s. Song facts. Comedy greats in there - Phil Hartman, Jon Lovitz, Annie Potts, Tracy Ullman, etc. Good shout on Awakenings, which is a great film.

Binge Bros - 23 April. Natty & Joey. 1. A fictional character that would be unbearable. Netflix stock down. A look at documentaries. Seaspiracy used documents that have been invalidated by marine biologists. I never understand the number business with ratings after Joey asks for an A to F rating! The next documentary they look at is Fyrefest, about a fake music festival they came up with to scam money from. Nat can’t remember the title of Lord Of The Flies!

Snapshots - Blaine talks about baseball starting with it’s history and the hall of fame. Doc Adams wrote the first rules for baseball, including creating the short stop position (between third and second base, and they had no one could catch the ball from outfield before this time). Blaine then gives the story of Sam Rice.

At 4am I changed vehicles to one without the ability to connect my phone to the radio, so it was good old Classic FM for the last two hours.
