The Strange Brew Podcast - 12 April 2024: Jason chats with the guitarist Phil Manzanera, most famously known as the guitarist of Roxy Music, who has also worked with Pink Floyd, David Gilmour, Brian ENo, and many more. This is Jason’s second time chatting with Phil, from what I remember. I did listen to the previous episode, because I remember the incredible music that he had been working on at that point with Tim Finn. This time they all are talking about the autobiography of Phil that has recently come out, entitled Revolución to Roxy. Revolutions close enough. Born in London, lived in Cuba, lived in South Africa. The Godfather part 2. Our Man in Havana. New York 1959. Waikiki. Venezuela. Meeting David Gilmour and Robert Wyatt in 1967. School friend with David Rhodes. Quiet Sun. Roxy Music. “Inspired amateurs.” Pyjamarama written by Brian Eno with one finger on the guitar. The first two albums didn’t have singles on them. Join any break they’re all working on their own projects, with Phil, playing on albums by both Brian and Bryan, Andy, and others. Musical director for an event at Seville that included Bob Dylan, Jo Cocker, Brian May, and more.

Atlas Obscura - 13 April 2024: *Atlas Obscura Live: Two Places and A Lie - This week wasn't special only because of the eclipse. We also recorded our first live show, during the Atlas Obscura Ecliptic Festival in Hot Springs, Arkansas. In this episode, hear host Dylan Thuras try to stump guests --  astrobiologist Dr. Graham Lau and science writer Rebecca Boyle -- and get them to guess which strange, incredible place is real or fake. Then, the tables are turned and Dylan has to guess. Special thanks to everyone who made this possible! [a live recording. This is such a cool idea - three intros to “facts” are told where people have to guess which of the three is fake.

Comicbook Nation - season 6 episode 15: 12 April 2024: presented by Kofi, Matt, and Janell. They are joined by Evan Valentine. Hip hop stuff. “There was a solar eclipse on Monday.” Reactions to the Alex Garland film Civil War. Cinemacon 2024. Trailer for Joker Folex Eau Deux. Deadpool and Wolverine footage. Captain America New World Order footage. Alien Romulus. Matt sings No Doubt! “Thunderbolts with an asterisk.” That discussion about Thunderbolts saw Matt losing it! Woah! Transformers GI Joe crossover film is definitely coming. Star Trek origin film. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin will be R rated. John Wick spin off entitled the ballerina. Who took all the shirts? The Amazon Prime tv show Fallout. Kofi throws some gaming grenades! Falling asleep to show Music. I’m trying to think what Show Music used to put me to sleep. Comment below. If anyone reading this can think of show Music that they used to fall asleep to. I actually think that Janelle has a very good point with regard to the binge culture that we have at the moment, where, when they release a series with every episode at the same time, it has less chance of a build to my mind, because you haven’t got that Thing where every week, someone saying something about our great that week episode was. Instead, you’ve got it once, and maybe for a week or two afterwards, but then it’s onto the next thing. How many shows are coming out nowadays, that potentially leads to people not catching these series that they need to, because they don’t know how good they are, because they haven’t got the social media shelflife. X-Men ‘97 episode five talk. Shogun episode eight reactions. Ultimate X-Men comic issue 2.

How the words hold different meanings written versus spoken. For when we speak out loud the words of the poets, we access their freedom and consciousness and rage for order. As my friend Robert Pinsky tells us, / “poetry's medium is the individual chest and throat and mouth of whoever undertakes to say the poem." It is a physical embodiment that changes us and the spaces we occupy.

The poem creates an environment."
